| Gro lights are perfect for indoor plants that require bright light or direct sunshine in order to grow and flower. Houseplants that generally do not flower normally do not need gro lites, unless you want to grow them in a dark corner of your home. Regular fluorescent lights (such as shop lights) provide the full spectrum of UV light waves and do not put out a lot of heat so they can be place rather close (within 4-6 inches) of the tops of plants. These are inexpensive and quite useful for orchids, African violets, etc. If you have a specimen plant you want to provide supplemental light to, you might go with a specialized incandescent Gro Light. This is a single bulb and will provide a limited amount of full spectrum light to a specific area of a large plant. I'd go with a bank of gro light fluorescent bulbs if you have a table full of plants you wish to provide light to, a single bulb gro light for a single specimen plant.
