What shrubs should I put around the foundation of my 1893 home? Wwhat configuration?

Lilacs, hydrangeas, hollies, dogwoods and azaleas or rhododendrons are all perfect for your gardening zone and for your 1893 home. Hollyhocks and other "cottage garden" plants would also be great additions. The way to arrange them depends upon which plants you choose. In general, plants look best when grouped together in odd numbers so plant 3, 5, or 7 of the same plant in your garden to draw the eye from one point in the landscape to another. Enjoy your garden!
