My problem is with Cabbage and Brussels sprouts. I believe it involves some type of mildew. I have recently noticed a fine gray dust on the above stated plants. It does not appear to be causing any damage, but I would like to know what it is just to be sure. It only appears on the young, newly formed leaves on top of the plant, and does not rub off easily. If you would please tell me what it is and what I can do about it, I would be most grateful. |
What you've noticed on the new leaves is a naturally occuring bloom. The coating helps shed water and protect the leaves. You'll find the same kind of protective bloom on plums and, to a lesser extent, apples. It's not a problem that needs to be treated - as you've noticed, it goes away on its own. |
