The Q&A Archives: Soil pH Tester

Question: I have an old pH meter that has two 6 inch metal probes for directly inserting into the soil to test pH. It's very handy but I wonder if you can tell me how accurate it is and where I could purchase a new one?

Answer: Unfortunately I can't tell you if your old meter is accurate or not, but I can assure you that many of the larger garden centers now offer a variety of soil pH testing kits and meters. You can also purchase them through mail order suppliers such as W. Atlee Burpee and Co., Warminster PA 18974; telephone 1-800-888-1447. You may use their website to order a catalog if you wish.
