The Q&A Archives: dying plants

Question: i have numerous yellow madivilla vines on my fence surrounding my yard. they have been beautiful for a few yrs now. i have one that the leaves have turned from drk green to almost yellow and have brown spots on them, they are also falling off. i see no insects... HELPPPPP

Answer: Water stress can cause an off color in foliage, as can a need for ferilizer. The brown spots could indicate a fungal disease but without actually seeing the leaves, I can't really diagnose the problem. You can simply cut off the affected foliage and stems. Pruning will encourage healthy new growth. Or, you might try a general garden fungicide to protect the unaffected foliage. Wish I could offer more suggestions.
