After you have finished harvesting the stalks, just water the plants as you normally would. The fronds will be busy all summer manufacturing and transporting energy back to the crowns of the plants. When the first frost kills the tops, leave them alone (they will help insulate the plants) and then cover the bed with straw mulch, shredded leaves, or pine boughs. In the spring rake away the mulch and dead tops and your asparagus will send up new stalks. Enjoy!
