How often should you fertilize house plants and potted plants in outside containers

Plants in containers usually need to be fed more frequently than the same plants in the ground, but they can be easily burned if you feed too often. So, I use a water soluable fertilizer such as Miracle Gro, Peter's, Shultz's or Kellogg's and dilute it to half strength, then feed every 2-3 weeks during the spring and summer months when the plants are actively growing. I use one tablespoon of ferilizer per gallon of water and get good results with my containerized plants, both indoors and out.
