a 40Lx8W area on east side of house that gets very little sun, sunrise to 10 a.m.what should i plant.

I would plant a variety of shrubs, from small to medium height. Those that do well in the shade include Buxus microphylla (Japanese Boxwood), Carissa grandiflora
('Nana' dwarf natal plum), Cuphea hyssopifolia (Cuphea) and Gardenia Augusta. These remain only about 3' tall. For more height, include Acuba, Beautyberry, Croton and Hydrangea. Best wishes with your garden!
