I cut some stem and leaves off my moms plants and put it in water but its not rooting I was wondering if theres a certain way to cut or somthing i should put in the water?

Not all plants will root in water but most will root if you cut a 6" long piece of tip growth, remove the lower leaves, dip the cut end in rooting hormone and set it in some moistened potting soil. If you submit another question with the name of the plant we'll do some research to see if it has specific techniques required for propagation. Best wishes with your plants.
