I suspect your coneflowers spread some seed before they died and that's what came up in your garden this year. However, the Big Sky plants won't set true seeds. In the nursery they are grown from tip cuttings. The Big Sky TM series of echinaceas comes from Itsaul Nurseries in Atlanta, GA. and they are patented so propagation is prohibited unless you are licensed to do so. The grower pretty much has control of the product since it won't set true seeds! If you want the orange flowering echinachea, you ll have to purchase new plants each year.
