how can i save my oak tree? - Knowledgebase Question

i forgot to water my water oak tree for 3 weeks . It has been vey dry in my area and the tree now looks like it is dieing i have now been watering it costantly for a week but it doesnt look any different. the tree is a50 gl tree that i planted last fall. how can i save it?

Now that the soil is moist again, cut back on the watering or you will suffocate the roots. Soggy soils won't have any oxygen in them and the roots need oxygen as well as moisture. You can't see what's going on below the surface of the soil but I expect that the roots are rehydrated now and are building reserves so the tree can develop healthy new foliage. Water deeply once or twice a week and just be patient with your tree. If it wasn't too dehydrated it should perk up within a few weeks. Hope it recovers!
