The Q&A Archives: Cutting back tomatoes

Question: Hello:
I have 2 tomato plants, roughly 3 feet high. One has flowers (some open and closed) & has some tomatoes growing. The other plant has some closed flower buds. I've read about cutting back of leafy material to encourage more tomato growth. I'm still new to gardening, so what does "cutting back" mean? What should I cut back & how do I know I'm not cutting the wrong branches?
