Either squirrels or chipmunks have created holes/tunnels all over the yard. How do I get rid of them-cat or moth balls?

Squirrels, raccoons, chipmonks, and other critters are digging in your yard because they are finding - or hope to find - some buried treasure. Seeds, nuts, bulbs, or even nice, fat grubs are what they are looking for. You might check to see if there are grubs in your soil. If so, an application of Grubex, Bayer Grub Control or similar product should control them. Squirrels are not easy to get rid of. You can try repellents such as Bobcat Urine or Ro-pel. Unfortunately, squirrels are very intelligent. They soon realize the repellents don?t pose a threat and will ignore them. You may be able to discover additional lawn treatments or critter control methods through your cooperative extension office or Master Gardener clinic. There may be something regional that works really well. I hope so!
