I have brown ants in my garden and they're making little hills all over the place. What can I do to get rid of them?

You may have to put bait out to get rid of the ants entirely, but they can be beneficial in the garden, so don't be too hasty. Ants cart off the bodies of dead insects, and they pollinate flowers quite by accident when they're crawling around on flowers and stems. Usually you can flood a garden bed once or twice and send ants packing -- they prefer to nest in dry soil.
