I bought a tamarix and was told to cut it all the way down in the fall. Is this true and if so will it grow to 5 or 6 feet next year?

Tamarix produces flowers on last year's growth so if you cut it down every fall it will not bloom the following spring. Instead, prune selectively after it has finished flowering to keep it neat and tidy and under control. It is a fast grower so it may reach 5-6' next year. Best wishes with your tamarix.
