my apple tree blossims, starts to grow fruit, then withers and dies. Trees are over seven years old and this consistently happens.

If you have just a single apple tree, that would be the reason. Apples need to be cross pollinated with a different type of apple - one that blooms at the same time as your current apple tree. With a second tree the insects will transfer pollen between the two trees and you'll have a good crop from both. Best wishes with your apple trees.
