A general purpose garden fertilizer with a 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 ratio of NPK is fine for your plants. Since your soil is alkaline you may want to provide some iron. I use Ironite around my shrubs to help them maintain their nice green color. Use in amounts as recommended on the label for the size of plants you have and apply in March and again in June when plants are most actively growing. Good luck with your garden.
