The Q&A Archives: rodent control

Question: How do you control ground squirrels eating the zinnias?

Answer: Wish there were an easy solution but fencing your favorite plants is about the only way to protect them from squirrels. I make cylinders out of chicken wire for each plant but you could also make tunnels out of the material and set them over your plants. Just be sure to cover the ends of the tunnels. After a few weeks the squirrels will figure out they can't access the plants and you can probably remove the chicken wire. Good luck with your zinnias.
