Last year I planted hosta and they all died, so I went to talk to someone at homedepot and she told me to take mushroom compost and topsoil mix it together and redo all the dirt, so I did so this year I bought some other flowers perennial, well they all died too, what is wrong?

It's obviously not the soil that's causing the problem! Be sure that your plants are getting the right exposure to sunshine. Hostas need shade, but some plants need sun so be sure to check the plant labels before you plant your new plants. Water is also very important so be sure to water deeply every 3-4 days during the summer months. Aside from the above, your new plants should not need any special care. Good luck with your new plants.
