| I discovered several spider webs on my Gardenia August Beauty plants where the leaf meets the stem, so I asume I have a spider mite problem. Also found small spots of a white liquid and a grasshopper, I am assuming the liquid came from the grasshopper. Can you suggest an insect spray that will take care if the problem? |
| Spider mites typically prefer dry, dusty environments so sprinkling the foliage every day or two will probably chase the critters away. Keep your gardenia isolated or at least somewhat away from other plants (you don't want an infestation elsewhere!) until you're sure the spider mites are gone. Insecticidal soap sprays will control spider mites but can sometimes be phytotoxic to gardenia leaves. I'd try the plain water control first. If more webbing appears, use insecticidal soap treatments but 10 minutes after spraying, wash the product off the leaves to avoid burning the leaves. Good luck with your gardenia! |
