The Q&A Archives: Catapillers!

Question: Hi, I've been having the best time planting veggies in my raised beds, and then noticed lots of my leaves being eaten...just found a catapiller today and killed it. How do I kill future infestations of this voracious bug?!!! Please help!!

Thanks so much--LeeAnnn Chiao, DDS.

Answer: Caterpillars can be controlled with a bacterium called Bt (bacillus thuringensis) sold as Dipel, Thuricide, and other brand names. It works against caterpillars but doesn't harm beneficial insects. Good luck with your new garden!
