The Q&A Archives: green beans

Question: when i harvest my beans will i still get green beans

Answer: You should harvest the beans by cutting them off the plant. I harvest when they are still slender and 5-6" long. As long as you keep the mature beans cut off the plant, your bean plant will continue to grow and develop flowers - for several weeks more. Eventually the plants will stop growing and producing flowers, though, so don't be disappointed when it stops. It just means it has produced all it can.
