Got back from vacation, found new neigbors removed every tree, shrub, etc. from their property. They're putting up a board-on-board fence against our picket fence. Our beautiful park-like yard is gone and we have no privacy - b/c we're elevated, can see straight to last house on our street's yard. Any ideas for nice, fast-growing tall trees?

What a sad story! I would be devastated if it were my home! Some of the fastest growing evergreens include Leyland Cypress, arborvitae and hollies. You might consider a double buffer - cypresses in the back and either hollies or arborvitaes as the lower, second row. You might even think about moving your picket fence and setting it in front of your plantings so you'll still have the charm of the fence in your landscape. Best wishes with your garden!
