The Q&A Archives: four-o-clocks flowers

Question: I have red and white four-o-clocks on the side of my house and they have alot of brown spots all over them.what can I do to get rid of the brown spots,I don't what to lose them.My humming birds love them.

Answer: Brown spots on the leaves can indicate a fungal disease but I can't identify the specific problem without seeing the plant. A general garden fungicide should help keep the disease from spreading. You may want to clip a few of the affected leaves and take them into your cooperative extension or well staffed nursery for help in identifying the problem and finding the best controls for the disease. Good luck with your plants!
