What plants are best to plant around the base of a tree? I have a 20 year old Arizona Ash.

You'll want to find drought tolerant plants - the roots of your ash tree will compete for moisture with anything you plant beneath it. Try portulaca, creeping thyme or rosemary. Enjoy your garden!
