I have been given a "Valiant Grape" cutting, when will I be able to harvest grapes and are they good for jelly? |
Valiant Grape is a black grape (like Concord) and will make excellent jelly. Grape vines take some time to train into fruiting, so don't expect to harvest your first real crop for four or five years. It will be worth the wait! Plant your new grape vine in well-draining soil in full sunshine and provide support for it. You can learn all about grape training in a book by Christopher Brickell called "Pruning". ISBN# 0-671-65841-7. |
