The Q&A Archives: Planting TULIPS

Question: I am about to get married at my mom & dad's house. After I walk out of the house towards the pond; I want my pathway from steps to alter be lined w/ tulips. When will be the best time to put them in the ground for Spring arrival? GA ZONE ? 7-8

Answer: Bulbs bloom according to the weather so there are no guarantees, but usually bulbs are planted in the ground October through late December in Georgia. You can try to time the flowering by pre-cooling the bulbs for a 12-16 weeks in ventilated packages in the bottom of your refrigerator at 40-50 degrees F. before planting. They will usually bloom within a month after being planted in the ground.

Hope they bloom right on schedule for you!
