Shrubs are usually chosen for their size, leaf and flower color, and for the exposure to the sun or shade that they require. Have you considered growing camellia? It's an evergreen that thrives in morning sun and afternoon shade. Some easy to grow plants for your gardening region include:
Pink Abelia, White Abelia, Lily-of-the-Nile, Blue Hibiscus, Cape Mallow, Banksia roses, Buddleia (Butterfly Bush), Bottlebrush, Bush Anemone, Caryopteris,
Choisia ternata (Mexican Mock Orange), Rockrose , Breath of Heaven , Bush Morning Glory, Fuchsia, Smoke Tree, Desert Spoon, Bush Poppy, Fortnight Lily, Echium,
Pink Escallonia, Euryops Daisy, Feijoa sellowianna (Pineapple Guava), Sun Rose,
Rose of Sharon, Lantana, Lavatera bicolor Tree Mallow, Lavender, Olender, Sweet Olive, Mock Orange, Plumbago, Poppy, Roses and Salvia. I'm sure you'll find lots of other plants to include when you visit your garden center. Enjoy your garden!
