I have a rosebush at the front of my house. It's getting full sun all day. In spring/early summer is was lush and green with plenty of buds and all of a sudden it has lost all of its leaves and hardly any buds. Any idea what the problem might be?

If the leaves have fallen off, I would suspect a root stress problem (most likely drought). If the leaves have been eaten completely, caterpillars or beetles may be at work. Check the plant over of signs of insect pests. If none, you might want to dig down and inspect the roots of the rose.
