The Q&A Archives: Protecting Corn from Squirrels

Question: Squirrels completely destroyed the corn crop in our garden. Our neighbors saw them tearing the stalks to shreads to eat the under developed ears. What can we do to control these pests so we can enjoy corn this season.

Answer: There simply is no way to protect your corn from squirrels other than fencing them out. Even the commercially available deterents have no affect - they love corn and will go to any lengths to get at it. Wish I had a solution other than fencing in your corn!
