Lots of things can cause yellowing and brown leaves on a privet. Dog urine is the number one culprit; winter damage, water stress and insect feedin are also common causes. You can prune away the damage so healthy new growth can fill in. Be sure to water well once or twice a week (depending upon how well your soil retains moisture). If you can be more specific about when and how the symptoms first appeared and the cultural care you've given your privet we may be able to offer more suggestions. Good luck with your privet!
