I will be planting shrubs across the front of the house in a raised box approximately 20 ft long.I will be buying alberta spruce and birds nest blue spruce and possibley some holly. What should I use as far as fertilizer to plant these bushes. I will be buying them at home depot in the next couple of days. |
If you'd like to amend the soil you can spread 4-5 inches of organic matter over the entire planting bed and dig it in to a depth of 8-10". This will enrich the soil and help it drain well - perfect for your evergreens. After planting, spread another few inches of organic matter over the bare soil. Your new shrubs will not need to be fed until next spring. At that time, use a slow release 8-8-8 and water it in well. Best wishes with your new shrubs! |
