HOW AND WHY DO YOU DIVIDE PLANTS. SOME OF THE PERENIALS SAY TO DIVIDE EVERY 3-4 YEARS. |
Some perennial plants can become overcrowded or can outgrow a planting bed in 3-4 years. Flower production can decrease as the plant grows larger and larger. Dividing is simply digging up the entire plant and cutting it into sections with a sharp shovel. Each division or section should have both roots and leaves attached. These divisions are replanted in the garden bed (or given to gardening friends). The new division can then spend the next 3-4 years growing in the garden. Hope this answers your question. |
