With annuals like marigolds, petunias, dahlias, lobelia, celosia ..how many plants should be in each bowl? |
It's difficult to estimate, but if you are mixing the plants in 16" containers, try putting 1 or 2 dahlias in the center of a container, planting celosia withing 4-5 inches of the dahlias, then 3 or more marigolds, and then planting lobelia and petunias around the edges of the containers. You can alternate the lobelia and petunias or offset the lobelia between the marigolds and the petunias. The lobelia will fill in the gaps between the other plants because they tend to grow into little mounts and their small stems will fit between the other plants. The petunias should be planted near the edges so they can cascade down over the sides. Enjoy your container garden! |
