We just purchased a pieris from HD with no product code. Hardy to -20, 4-6ft tall. Plan to use 2 as cover for cable boxes in NW corner under river birch. What variety do we have and is this a good choice for our landscape? |
Pieris japonica (also called Andromeda, Lily of the Valley shrub) is an evergreen shrub. It tolerates some drought and will grow in dry soil as well as well-drained, loamy, sandy or clay soils. It will grow in full sun, partial sun, partial shade, or full shade. The evergreen leaves emerge bronzed, change to chartreuse, and eventually mature as dark green, and the flowers are in clusters, similar to lily of the vally flowers. Your new shrubs should be just fine for the site you describe. Enjoy! |
