| I'm growing 'Big Boy' and 'Better Boy' tomatoes. The leaves are beginning to curl upward from the edges, in towards the center of the leaf. What causes this problem, and what can I do to correct it? |
| Fortunately, it's nothing terribly serious - the leaves of tomatoes curl up when the soil is too moist. 'Big Boy' are more succeptible to this condition than other varieties. For best growth and crop yield, plant your tomatoes in soil that drains well, but holds adequate moisture (a loose, crumbly soil high in organic matter is best). If your soil is heavy and dense, I suggest adding organic matter (compost, grass clippings, manure, etc.), and growing plants in raised beds in the future. |
