I'm wanting to use trellises for privacy in our backyard. I want a pretty vine for them that will remain green throughout the year and also produces flowers. It will be located under large shade trees, so minimum filtered sun. Any suggestions?
Memphis, Tn
Thanks!

Bignonia capreolata (Crossvine) is probably your best choice for a shady area. 'Atrosanguinea', 'Jekyll', 'Shalimar Red', and 'Tangerine Beauty' are some popular cultivars. Lonicera sempervirens (coral honeysuckle) is another suggestion. Carolina Jessamine is also an excellent choice that's smaller and more refined than the above, and the variety 'Butterscotch' reblooms during the summer months. Best wishes with your new plants!
