I did everything to get the grass to grow. Tild, fertilized, seeded and I have some grass but mostly weeds and bare spots. Is it to late to throw dow more seeds and this time throw down straw. I live in central VA

It's actually too early to reseed. Wait until early September when temperatures are cooler and the new grass will germinate quickly and thicken up faster than if you try reseeding now. Straw will help the soil and seeds maintain moisture which will help more seeds germinate but you can get the same results with a thin layer of compost or peat moss which will break down faster than straw and add nutrients to the soil as it breaks down. Good luck with your turf.
