We want to plant a garden in a extra parking space away from the house and we are going to kill all the weeds that grow in the area with roundup. The area is mostly gravel and what do I need to do

Since the area was used for parking the soil is probably compacted and it may also contain some oil or other residues. Instead of killing the weeds, why not just build a raised bed planter and fill it with topsoil? Make the bed at least 18 inches tall to accommodate plant roots - taller is fine. This way you'll have fresh soil, ample growth room and won't have to deal with the compacted, gravel filled native soil. Best wishes with your new garden!
