The Q&A Archives: planting grass

Question: What is best fertilizer to use when planting grass and best grass to plant this time of year

Answer: Grasses used in Iowa generally consist of bluegrass or bluegrass mixtures. Perennial ryegrass and fescues are also popular so take your pick. Starter fertilizer is generally mixed into the soil prior to broadcasting seeds so look for a package marked "Starter Fertilizer". Good luck with your new lawn.
