HELP! 6mons ago my lawn was was the cheapest sod the builders could buy. Now the weeds are taking over, I have big patches that didn't live, and the parts that did have round brown circles. I have pretty flower beds and and an ugly yard. Is there anything I can do to revive this situation?

I don't know whether the turf can be renovated or if it would be easier to simply remove it and start all over with healthy new sod. You can try putting it on an intensive maintenance program - deep watering, frequent mowing, weed control and feeding at prescribed times - along with raking out the dead areas and reseeding in the fall. If I don't sound too encouraging it's because even if you get your current turf back to a healthy state, the grasses in your turf may not be the best for your area. I'd really be inclined to remove it and either reseed or resod this fall. Starting with a clean slate and healthy lawn will make maintenance less of a nightmare in the years to come!
