The Q&A Archives: Kill only the Weeds

Question: Is there anything I can use to kill ONLY the weeds in my garden of vegetables and strawberry and raspberry plants? If yes, when is the best time to do it?

Answer: I wish there were a product that would target only the weeds, but there really is not. Once you get the weeds out you can apply a pre emergence product to keep new weeds from sprouting, though, so that's the best way to control weeds - before they arrive. You can try to suffocate the weeds with heavy layers of newspapers or cardboard covered with organic mulch (which you can dig into the soil at the end of the gardening season) or you can simply hoe the weeds down before they set seeds. Wish there were an easier way!
