The Q&A Archives: "Odorless" Marigolds as Deer

Question: Marigolds seem pretty good at repelling deer. I am looking at planting French Vanilla Marigolds this year, but noticed that the catalog says thet are "odorless." Does that mean that they will NOT repel insects and animals like other marigolds do? Russ Neil Long Valley, NJ

Answer: I'm not sure if these "odorless" marigolds will have the same repellent effect as the more aromatic marigolds. Just to be safe, you might want to plant a mix of varieties.
