The Q&A Archives: Berry plants in California

Question: Hello. I am moving to California (LA) from New York City and wanted to know if my berries will survive there. I have a chandler Blueberry, a heritage raspberry, everlast strawberries and a navajo blackberry. I want to make sure that they will be ok...can I make this work?

Answer: This is a follow-up to your first question - I misread the question and thought you were moving from California to New York. The advice is still the same - plants that grow well in one gardening region will not necessarily grow well in another. Obviously, the website reference was backwards! Here's a publication from UC Davis with info on small fruit growing in California.

Hope these provide the information you need.
