Budworms on petunias & coleus - Knowledgebase Question

Which product will kill budworms? Ortho product ineffective. All plants are in baskets or containers.

It's difficult to control budworms because the pests are protected within the unopened flower bud. The adult that lays the egg flies away as soon as she has laid the egg so controlling her is difficult too. The best approach is to inspect the unopened buds and remove those with the tiny hole in the sepals which indicates a larvae is inside. This will stop the current generation and the next one,too.
