The Q&A Archives: Pruning petunias

Question: New growth/leaves sprouting under dead leaves. How much should be pruned on basket petunias?

Answer: If you pinch out the growing tips every 2-3 weeks and pinch out the faded flowers along with some of the stem, your petunias will develop lots of new flowering stems. You can pull off the dead leaves and pinch back all of the growing tips on all the stems. You'll get new growth in the center and along the tips of the stems which will result in a bushy plant full of new flowers. Enjoy!
