Answer: Once the grass has sprouted you can cut back on your watering. You want the roots to grow deeply so running the water long enough for it to soak in is a good idea, but watering for such long periods of time can actually keep the soil too moist which will drive out oxygen and actually suffocate the roots. So wean your turf off such frequent waterings so it can thrive. Water once a day for a week, then once every other day and finally once every 3-4 days.
