The Q&A Archives: Small cloves of garlic

Question: How do I know the best time to pull garlic for maximum size cloves?

Answer: Harvest in the late summer, after the foliage has turned brown. If you harvest too soon, you'll sacrifice size. If you harvest too late, the outer wrapper is likely to tear, which will shorten the shelf life of your garlic. So after the tops of the plants turn yellow and then brown, your garlic is ready to harvest. Enjoy!
