The Q&A Archives: cordyline bright burgundy leaves

Question: this plant is a potted plant that i have on my porch is full of little worms, how do i get rid of them, is there something that i can put on it. I am noticing that some leaves are dying.

Answer: I'm not clear whether there are worms in the potting soil or worms feeding on the leaves. If there are pests in the soil feeding on the roots, that would explain why some of the leaves are dying. But, caterpillars feeding on the worms can also cause them to die. Since it's a potted plant, why not unpot the plant, brush off as much of the old potting soil as possible, then rinse off the roots and repot the plant in fresh potting soil. This should take care of any soil pests there might be. Hope this helps!
