The Q&A Archives: Watermelons

Question: Should I pick off some baby melons from the vines? How many will one vine support? I have a lot.

Answer: Your watermelon plants have the potential to develop as many melons as it produces. If you pinch out the growing tip of the vine it will stop growing and stop setting fruits. The plant will then concentrate on maturing the melons it has already set. It's your choice. The fewer melons it produces, the larger the melons will be. Whatever you decide, enjoy your melons!
